Steve Smith
Dean of Libraries
The Dean of Libraries directs the John C. Hodges Library and two branch libraries on the flagship campus of the University of Tennessee system, administering an annual budget of more than $20 million. Steve Smith serves as the UT Libraries’ representative to the prestigious Association of Research Libraries as well as the Tennessee Advisory Council on Libraries, the state entity that oversees library services that benefit all Tennesseans.
Holly Mercer
Senior Associate Dean
Holly Mercer is a Professor and Senior Associate Dean with areas of responsibility include library collections, including licensing, purchasing, describing, preservation, and storage; special collections including manuscripts, rare books, and university archives collections; library technology including the digital library program; and emerging forms of scholarship such as digital humanities and data science.
Teresa Walker
Associate Dean
Teresa B. Walker is Professor and Associate Dean of Libraries at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with responsibility for UT Libraries teaching and learning initiatives, The Learning Commons, student success programs, community outreach and engagement efforts, research assistance services, marketing and communications, immersive spaces and technologies, and branch libraries. Her research interests focus on campus academic partnerships, informal learning spaces, and the role of the library in student success and retention.
Elizabeth Greene
Associate Dean for Finance, Administration, and Operations
Elizabeth Greene is the Associate Dean for Finance, Administration, and Operations at the University of Tennessee Libraries. Elizabeth reports to the Dean and is a senior member of the Dean’s leadership team. She has organizational-wide responsibility for the UT Libraries Administrative activities, including Human Resources and the Dean’s Office, the Business Services Office, and Libraries Facilities. She provides leadership for Libraries’ special events and faculty affairs.
