Why I Chose This Book
Le città invisibili, which can briefly be described as a dialogue between Kublai Khan and Marco Polo on the cities of the Khan's empire, is a work that brings together imagination and the act of description in a way that continues to inspire me in how I look at the past, and which helps to me to reflect on my own position as a Roman archaeologist for how I engage with the world of the Roman empire in all its breadth and diversity.
