BOSS is traditionally a free half-day conference for high school students held annually to engage participants in STEM opportunities, college preparedness and careers. Currently, we are shifting our BOSS presentations and resources online so that students can utilize this valuable information from the safety of their own homes due to the threat of COVID-19. What do Monopoly, Super Smash Bros, Beat Saber, and Dungeons & Dragons have in common? They’re all games, and you can play all of them at UT Libraries! In this session, you’ll learn about the library’s permanent virtual reality room, board game collection, gaming events with console games and role-playing game sessions, connections to student organizations, and more.
Industrial Engineering is the branch of engineering that combines technical and ‘people’ skills. We use proven methods to improve ALL types of systems. You might find industrial engineers in factories, airports, hospitals, or the board room. Anywhere there is an IE, you can bet they are making improvements and helping people perform better and safer. We will bring BOSS attendees the opportunity to learn about IE through a brief lecture and a physical and mental interactive challenge! Our goal is to introduce IE, and help the students learn that science, math, logic, and teamwork are fun, and path to success.
Bringing Anatomy to Life with the Anatomage 3D Virtual Anatomy Table
Experience anatomy in a new way with the Anatomage 3D Virtual Anatomy Table. Participants will learn how UT Libraries has implemented the Anatomage Table to support student learning in anatomy and physiology. Participants will also see the Anatomage Table in action and get the opportunity to interact with this innovative learning tool. The Anatomage Table was purchased through a grant from the Gladys Brooks Foundation, a supporter of nonprofit libraries, educational institutions, hospitals, and clinics.
