Student Corner: Career or College?
So many decisions! This page offers resources to consider when faced with the choice between pursuing a career or higher education after high school.
- Apply to job shadowing experiences and internships to determine where your passions lie.
- Join organizations/clubs that connect to careers or colleges. Build relationships and contacts.
- Build your resume throughout high school.
- Volunteer in your community and at local businesses.
- Consider learning a second language to provide options for studying or working abroad. It can also open more possibilities for jobs in your area.
- Interview family and friends to see how they ended up in their current job.
- Open up your own personal bank account, and learn how to be responsible for it. Practice making your first million!
- Learn what interests you. Sign up for free summer classes.
- Identify a mentor for college or career.
- Consider all of your options: professional experience, higher education, military service, a gap year. No matter which option, identify a priority for your future.
