Description
Assessment Programs and Collection Strategy seeks a Graduate Student Library Assistant to assist with projects involving maps as well as federal and state government document collections. This position provides the opportunity to develop in-demand skills and knowledge while working hands-on with library materials. The position can help prepare students interested in working with Federal Depository Library Programs and maps collections. Immediate needs include helping to prepare the collection to move locations by inventorying and updating item records.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Preparing collections to move to the annex, including creating inventories, correcting catalog records, and physical processing.
- Creating and fulfilling offers lists for other TN Shared Holdings Libraries.
- Packing and shipping completed offers lists.
- Working with the Libraries’ integrated system (Alma).
- Compiling, cleaning, and analyzing data.
- Assists with other various projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current graduate student
- Excellent attention to details
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Good communication skills
- Ability to learn how to use various computer programs and systems
- Ability to complete duties without close supervision
- Ability to work well with others
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate student in Information Sciences or related program
- Experience working with an integrated library system (ILS)
- Experience working in libraries
- Familiarity with L.C. and SUDOC call number system
