Description
The Electronic Resources Team within the Acquisitions & Continuing Resources department is responsible for the maintenance of electronic resources. The nature of the unit’s work requires great attention to detail to provide consistent and current access to electronic resources. This position provides graduate students with the opportunity to gain in-demand technical skills and first-hand experience working with the resources of a large academic library. The GSLA will act as an essential part of the unit, assisting staff by performing access checks for electronic resources and identifying problems for further resolution. The GLSA will also have the opportunity to complete other projects related to the management of electronic resources as assigned.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Check electronic resources for access issues
• Verify accurate information in the integrated library system
• Find and document problems in the integrated library system
• Use Excel or other programs to compile, clean, and analyze data
• Work with Electronic Resources Team staff on projects for the ongoing management of electronic resources
• Enhance existing documentation to aid team members
Required Qualifications
• Graduate student in Information Sciences or related program
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with searching resources in an online catalog
• Organizational skills
• Ability to pay close attention to details
• Ability to complete duties without close supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with an integrated library system (ILS)
