Description

The George F. DeVine Music Library at the University of Tennessee is seeking a Graduate Student Library Assistant (GSLA) to begin the Fall 2024 semester and continue until the end of the Spring 2026 semester. Some summer hours may be available. Candidates must be responsible, dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist with library outreach and special events including the Ready for the World Music Series, Graduate Student Open House, and International Coffeehouses
  • Represent the Music Library at orientations and events
  • Create flyers, handouts, and displays to engage library users and assist with distributing promotional materials
  • Assist in the management of the Music Library’s social media presence
  • Work on documentation and data entry projects to support music library research activities
  • Collaborate with music librarian with the research and creation of DeVine Music Library’s thematic displays and corresponding library research guides
  • Other job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a UTK graduate student
  • Must be available to work 10 hours per week with the opportunity to work longer in the Summer
  • Possess excellent communication skills for work with faculty, library staff, students, and the general public
  • Possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and related office software products
  • Possess excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graphic design experience (e.g., creating brochures, newsletters, infographics, presentations)
  • Some event planning and promotion experience
  • Some social media management experience
