I. Welcome
II. Minutes from the May 1st, 2014 Board Meeting: Motion to approve by Anjanae, seconded by Andy, passed.
III. Treasurer’s Report
Anjanae reported a balance of $1156.55. Discussion followed of multi-year memberships as one member had paid for several years at once. Meg and Anjanae will be exploring the possibility of electronic payments for ETLA dues.

President’s Report of Last Year’s Programs:
-Sunday, October 27, 2013 – Fall Picnic and Tour of the Fort Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore. ETLA provided grilled hot dogs and drinks, while attendees brought side dishes. Afterwards, the group toured the museum and Fort. Attendance: 15.
-Saturday, December 14, 2013 – Holiday Book Brag and Lunch at Puleo’s Grille in Knoxville. Attendees shared recent favorite books with the group. ETLA provided two gift certificates to Union Ave Books as door prizes. Attendance: 8.
-Monday, February 24, 2014 – “Navigating the Library World” Career Panel by Local Professionals at the UTK Communications Building. Co-hosted with the UT SIS Alumni Society, and the ALA/TLA-UTK Student Chapter, this panel presentation offered Information Science students an opportunity for networking and to learn about different areas of librarianship and strategies for the job hunt. UTK SIS professor Dr. Bharat Mehra introduced the panel, which included Megan Harrison of Clinton Public Library, Michelle Brannen of University of Tennessee Libraries, Diana Holden of Christian Academy of Knoxville, Michael Lindsay of UT Preston Medical Library, and Erin Anderson of the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Scientific & Technical Information. The program was also presented as an online session via UTK’s Blackboard site. ETLA provided refreshments. Attendance including panelists: 20 in person and 5 online.
-Thursday April 3, 2014 – 43rd annual Mary Utopia Rothrock Lecture and Dinner at the East Tennessee History Center in Knoxville. After ETLA President Matthew Jordan welcomed the group, Co-host Knox County Public Library representative Mary Pom Claiborne introduced the lecturers, Bradley Reeves and Louisa Trott, co-founders of the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound (TAMIS), which is now part of the McClung Historical Collection of the Knox County Public Library. The archive is dedicated to locating, preserving, and providing access to the moving image and recorded sound heritage of Tennessee. Reeves and Trott spoke on the importance of preserving regional audiovisual heritage while offering the audience a taste of the many wonderful treasures they’ve uncovered, from local television and radio to commercials and home movies. They also created a display of multi-media objects and memorabilia. The dinner and lecture was preceded by a tour of the TAMIS space in the ETHC. Catering was provided by All Occasion Catering. ETLA covered program costs above the $25 registration fee. Attendance: 36.
C. Planning for Upcoming Programs
-There are four programs that are currently in planning: Holiday Book Brag, Career Panel, Rothrock Lecture, and Fall Picnic.
-The newsletter was discussed, including the length of the newsletter and frequency of publication. It was agreed that there would be a fall/winter and spring/summer edition, but no retrospective newsletters to cover periods when the newsletter was not published. Some discussion followed on design of the newsletter.
-The Rothrock lecture is being planned for the fall, tentatively set for October 30th, at Sevier County Public Library. Meg and Anjanae will be exploring the possibility of electronic payments for ETLA dues.
-The fall hike is being planned, with a tentative date of September 14th set. A service project is being planned for Jefferson County Public Library.
-The Career Panel is being planned for the fall.
VI. The next meeting was tentatively set for August 24th.
