I. Welcome
II. Minutes from the August 17, 2013 Board Meeting: Motion to approve by Anjanae, passed.
III. Treasurer’s Report
-Anjanae reported a balance of $1,031.55.
-UT Catering sent a message to Circe regarding the catering bill for the Career Panel being unpaid. Anjanae had paid the bill already, but will check with them about it.
-Motion to approve by Matthew, passed.
IV. Old Business
-In the fall, Anjanae, Andy Madson, and last year’s treasurer Alison Jones arranged to have Anjanae added to the TVA Credit Union bank account and Alison removed. Andy will continue to allow his home address to be used for the account.
V. New Business
1. Officer Nominations for Vice-President/President-Elect, Secretary, and Newsletter Editor
-Anjanae nominated Meg Harrison of Clinton Public Library for Vice-President/President-Elect, Michael Lindsay of Preston Medical Library for Secretary, and Brian Rogers of UT Chattanooga for Newsletter Editor. Nominations will be presented for election to ETLA membership via email in May.
2. Programming
Review of past year’s programs:
-Fall Picnic and Tour of the Fort Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore (Sunday, October 27, 2013). Attendance – 15.
-Holiday Book Brag and Lunch at Puleo’s Grille in Knoxville (Saturday, December 14, 2013). Attendance – 8.
-“Navigating the Library World” Career Panel by Local Professionals at the UTK Communications Building (Monday, February 24, 2014). Co-hosted with the UT SIS Alumni Society and the ALA/TLA-UTK Student Chapter. Attendance including panelists – 20 in person and 5 online (via Blackboard webinar).
-43rd annual Mary Utopia Rothrock Lecture and Dinner at the East Tennessee History Center in Knoxville (Thursday April 3, 2014). Co-hosted by Knox County Public Library. Lecture by the co-founders of the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound (TAMIS), Bradley Reeves and Louisa Trott, who also provided a tour of the TAMIS beforehand. Attendance – 36.
Program possibilities discussed for the upcoming year:
-Poetry reading
-Outdoors activity
-Book Brag
-UTK SIS Career Panel
-National Day of Service project
-Annual Rothrock Lecture and Dinner
Changing the time of year some of these programs are held might improve attendance.
