JVIM Goes Open Access
The Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine (JVIM) is now an open access journal! All issues from 1987-present are freely available: click here to start reading. JVIM also offers a free iPad/iPhone app that allows you to read articles, get research alerts, and view dynamic tables and figures. Visit the vet apps guide to learn more about this and other apps in veterinary medicine.
Public Access to Federally Funded Scientific Research
In February 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) directed federal agencies with more than $100 million in annual conduct of research to develop plans for increasing public access to peer-reviewed scientific publications and data. Two years later, individual agencies are releasing public access plans to make it easier for you to access federally funded scientific research. Check out two of the most recent releases: USDA and NASA.

Open Access Matters
Pendergrass Library is committed to disseminating the results of research and scholarly activity broadly and with as few barriers as possible. We encourage faculty to explore new forms of scholarship, including open access publications. Open access publishing is in digital form, available via the Internet, and freely available to users. Scholarly open access publishing includes editorial and peer review for quality.
