Publish Free of Charge in Wiley’s Hybrid Open Access Journals
The University of Tennessee Libraries has signed an agreement with the scholarly publisher John Wiley & Sons that will allow a limited number of UT authors per year to publish free of charge in Wiley’s hybrid* open access journals.
Corresponding authors currently affiliated with the University of Tennessee System (including faculty, graduate students, and postdocs) may publish articles in Wiley’s hybrid journals at no charge to the author or institution. (The responsible corresponding author is the author who manages the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process.)
Wiley publishes more than 1200 hybrid journals (download the full list online). To qualify, articles must be accepted for open access publication in one of Wiley’s hybrid journals. The agreement with Wiley waives the Article Processing Charges typically imposed for open access publication of journal articles.
Once the journal accepts the article for publication, follow these steps to make sure the article will be published open access and to initiate the approval process. The university approves requests on a first come, first served basis.
Choosing open access makes an article immediately and freely available for all to read, download, and share — thereby removing barriers to published research.
In addition to the agreement with Wiley, UT Libraries, in partnership with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development, offers several other options for open access funding support, including an Open Publishing Support Fund and discounts negotiated with a number of publishers.
