Steve Smith Reappointed for Another Five-Year Term as Dean of Libraries

Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor John Zomchick has reappointed Steve Smith to serve another five-year term as Dean of Libraries.

The reappointment, effective July 1, comes after a mandatory evaluation in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The provost charged a committee comprised of campus and libraries employees to review Smith’s performance for the last five years based on annual performance evaluations and data gathered via anonymous surveys of faculty, staff, and administration.

The information gathered from the review process will guide Smith as he leads UT Libraries over the next five years.

Smith will complete his 15th year as Dean of Libraries at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year.
