UT Libraries and VolBooks Partner to Save Students Money

Textbook costs shouldn’t stand in the way of success!

VolBooks and the UT Libraries have created a partnership to help make course materials more affordable to UT students.

VolBooks’ Total Access program offers undergraduate students one flat fee per term for all required course materials. And, wherever possible, UT Libraries purchases electronic versions of required textbooks that may be used by an unlimited number of students. 

Students can easily access digital course materials by logging into their Canvas accounts and clicking on “VolBooks Course Materials (VitalSource)” in the Canvas sidebar.

This past Spring Semester, the Total Access partnership between UT Libraries and VolBooks provided access to 172 course titles supporting undergraduate and graduate courses, supported 14,620 unique uses of course materials, and generated more than $209,000 in savings through the program.

By helping remove barriers to required course materials, VolBooks and UT Libraries are supporting a stronger student experience, helping Vols engage with coursework from day one, and giving faculty more opportunities to connect students with the resources they need to thrive.
