Thura Mack Honored as Athletics Professor of Excellence
Thura Mack, Assistant Dean and Head of Community Learning and Engagement at UT Libraries, has been selected as an Athletics Professor of Excellence.
From today’s announcement by Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor John Zomchick and Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Danny White:
“The Athletics Professor of Excellence awards started in the 2024-2025 academic year as a result of the advocacy of the Faculty Senate, in partnership with the University of Tennessee Athletics Department. The awards, which are funded by Athletics and come with a $15,000 honorarium, recognize professional excellence and outstanding university citizenship at the departmental, college, or university levels.
“The six recipients were selected from a strong field of 18 nominations and were chosen by a committee of faculty and administrators. Honorees hold the title for one academic year.
“A thriving campus community depends on both academic achievement and the support that comes from strong partnerships. These awards highlight UT’s commitment to being the ‘Everything School,’ excelling both in competition and in the classroom. The recognized faculty exemplify the collaboration, service, and determination that drive our university forward.”
The Libraries’ Community Learning and Engagement department designs and hosts events for K–12 students that build up communities through individualized curriculum developed to prepare students for global success.
