Welcome Jeffrey Hines: Pendergrass Evening Supervisor

Earlier this month, Pendergrass Library welcomed Jeffrey Hines as its newest staff member. Jeffrey is the library’s evening supervisor and works from 2 p.m. till 10 p.m.

Jeffrey comes to UT Libraries from the University of Maryland, where he served as the IT Specialist for the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and the National Center for Smart Growth. Before that, Jeffrey worked at UT’s Hodges Library for 10 years in technology support.

Ask Jeffrey about technology, checkout policies, library facilities, and more. To contact Jeffrey or learn more about the staff at Pendergrass, visit our Meet the Staff page.

Adding Publications to your Symplectic Elements Profile

Some UT departments use Symplectic Elements to collect and understand their scholarly output.  A faculty member’s profile in Elements serves as an institutional CV.

Since the library provides assistance in other area’s of citation management and research impact, we have also created a Elements guide with instructions on setting up a profile and listing publications.

Questions about other aspects of your online research impact or managing citations?  Subject librarians at Pendergrass have expertise in EndNote, Zotero, ORCID, and more.

PeerJ Spotlights Agriculture Publications

Some of the leading agricultural scientists worldwide have chosen to publish some of their best work in PeerJ. The PeerJ Spotlight Collection for Agricultural Science highlights 10 articles that represent some of the most noteworthy agricultural science that PeerJ has published up to November 2015.

The list was compiled by examining a range of article level metrics – many are already highly cited, many have been widely tweeted, and many have had a high number of page views.

PeerJ is an award-winning, innovative, affordable, and high-integrity journal publishing articles in bioscience and computer science. There are many benefits to publishing in PeerJ.

To submit your research:

  1. Fill out the Pendergrass Library Form to receive approval for your free membership. We will send you a code that will entitle you to a basic publishing plan.
  1. Follow PeerJ’s “How it Works” instructions to sign up for a free account and submit your article to PeerJ or PeerJ PrePrints.
  1. Questions about PeerJ?  Contact Peter Fernandez or visit UT Libraries’ PeerJ Guide.
