Guidelines

All full time faculty and staff (exempt and non-exempt) that work in the UT Libraries, with the exception of the members of The Spirit Awards Nomination Review Committee, are eligible for nomination.  This includes members of the Spirit Awards Planning Committee as they are not charged with the selection of any award category.

Nominations should be personally written by the individual who wishes to nominate.  If a team wishes to make a nomination, the nomination should indicate that it is a team effort and may be signed by the members of the team.  Nominations should not be circulated for signatures as The Nomination Review Committee will consider the content of the nomination, not the number of signatures attached.

Please submit each nomination separately unless you wish for the nominees to share the award. A shared award will divide the total prize money equally among the winners. Student awards cannot be shared.

Nominations must include concrete examples and explanations.  Awards given will be based solely on information provided in the nomination package.

It is only appropriate to self-nominate in the following categories: The Innovation Award, and the Teamwork Award.

All nominations are confidential.

Any inappropriate nominations will be returned to the individual/ group who wrote the nomination with an explanation. A nomination would be deemed inappropriate if, for example, a change in the nominee’s employment status makes them ineligible for the award.

The Spirit Awards Nomination Review Committee reserves the right to decline giving an award if there are an insufficient number of qualified nominees.
