Library Storage Annex
August 2026. The move to the Library Storage Annex is well underway.
The Library Storage Annex is a modern climate-controlled facility that will house the UT Libraries’ special collections materials; the University of Tennessee Archives; the Modern Political Archives; important but little-used items from the general collections; and other library materials that require long-term preservation.
The Library Storage Annex is accessible only to UT Libraries staff. It is not open to the public.
The 16,000-square-foot storage facility on Middlebrook Pike is located about five miles from the main campus.
Construction is complete, and materials are presently being transferred to the new facility.
Once the transfer of collections is completed, patrons will be able to request items from the Library Storage Annex and items will be delivered to campus, usually within one day.
Patrons will be able to place requests directly from the item’s record in the OneSearch library catalog. Requested Items that are in general circulation will be delivered to the selected delivery location. See how to place a request.
Patrons can use Rare Books, University Archives, and Manuscripts collections only on-site in the Special Collections Reading Room. See how to place a request.
