Active Learning Space

Outfitted with standing height desks, pedal resistance laptop workstations, and zynergy balance chairs, the space provides students with an alternative to sitting for long periods of time while studying or completing assignments. This space is located in the Commons South.
Audio Studios & Whisper Room
Description
There are 3 Audio Recording Studios and a Whisper Room vocal booth that you can reserve. Check in at the studio desk and check out a microphone, headphones, or synth to use while you are there.
Brenda Lewis Peel Galleria

The Brenda Lewis Peel Galleria is a central space on the second floor, running from the Public Services desk to the stairs just past the Commons. This is the ideal space for outreach and information tabling, with tables available at the Public Services desk.
Please note that solicitation is not permitted in the Libraries. Sales of any sort are prohibited, and information tabling should allow visitors to approach rather than calling out to them.

Classroom 129
Description
LIB 129 is a smaller classroom on the first floor. It has a fully featured podium setup, including projector, sound system, microphone, document camera, and hybrid classroom camera. Additionally, it features full 360 whiteboards.

Description
LIB 212 is a smaller classroom on the second floor. It has a fully featured podium setup, including projector, sound system, microphone, document camera, and hybrid classroom camera.
Classroom 213
Description
LIB 213 is the second largest classroom in the building, after the auditorium. It has a fully featured podium, including projector, sound system, microphone, document camera, and hybrid classroom camera.
Commons Study Rooms
Description
The Commons on the second floor has several study rooms for general use. This is a conversational volume floor, and most study rooms do not have ceilings. Locations include Commons North 220 B-D and Commons South 235 K-U. A few specialty rooms have unique features (see below).
Specialty Rooms
- 220B is identical to the study rooms in the South Commons, but has a closeable door and a ceiling.
- 220C has a large smart screen for group presentations, including built in webcam, microphone, and speakers for teleconferencing.
- 220D has a conference room style layout, including a whiteboard and a monitor for group presentations.
- 235J: The Rotary Room: is a larger study space, with multiple whiteboards and a conference-style table.
Reservations
- Reservations are available online only, and can be made up to two weeks in advance.
- Click the hour blocks that you would like to reserve (maximum of two hours per day).
- Please note: It may take up to 1 Hour for new reservations to appear on the screen beside each room.
Computer Lab

Description
Pendergrass’s Computer Lab contains 8 PC workstations and 2 iMacs. Four of the PC workstations have dual monitors. The Adobe Creative suite is installed on the dual monitor computers and the 2 iMacs. In addition, the Computer Lab has two black and white printers and one color printer. At the front of the Computer Lab there is a DART machine for uploading funds to your VolCard.
To the left of the printers, there is a scanner that is available for uploading files to OneDrive, Google Drive, or a flash drive.
eXperience Point Gaming Lab
Description
The eXperience Point Gaming Lab, otherwise known as the eSports Lab, is a cutting edge computer lab created with video games and related technologies in mind. It is open for faculty to use as a classroom, in addition to being open for student use as a gaming space or work space with the provided software.

Graduate Commons

Graduate students need to swipe their VolCards to gain access.
The Graduate Commons is furnished with nine adjustable-height desks, ergonomic chairs, and lounge areas with sofas—features to ease a workday that can include extended periods of time working on dissertations or analyzing data. The new space supports scholarly work by providing workstations with powerful processors and dual monitors, specialized software, small-group rooms, and a large presentation room that can host a dissertation defense. Additionally, there is a group study room with seating for approximately 4 to 6 and a whiteboard. There are even small amenities such as a phone charging station and a bank of lockers.
Graduate Study Carrels
Description
Carrels are located around the perimeters of floors three through six. Up to two people may be assigned to a carrel at any time. Carrels are not lockable, so no personal items may be left unattended.

The Pendergrass Group Study Space is an open area for group and individual study. Within this space is a variety of seats options, including lounge chairs and individual tables. This space also hosts the leisure reading collection and course reserves.
Also located here is the Pendergrass Public Service Desk, where patrons can: borrow and return loaner equipment, books, and other library materials; pick up posters and 3D prints; pay library fines and fees; and ask questions and get help.
Hodges 605
Description
Hodges 605 is a conference and presentation room solely available to UTK staff and faculty.
Jack E. Reese Galleria
Description
UT departments and student organizations can reserve a space in the Galleria to provide information to people as they pass through the library. Please note that we cannot allow any solicitation activities including selling items, collecting donations, or surveying students. You will receive a response within 2 business days if your request is for the current semester. Response time will be longer for future semester requests.

Pendergrass Library study rooms (A, B, C, E, F, and G) include a desktop computer, large display monitor, and whiteboards. Access to the large display monitor can be setup from the desktop computer or personal laptop using a HDMI or VGA chord. Located in Hodges Library, the center offers assistance and guidance to active duty service members, veterans, reservists, guardsmen, and family members using their VA educational benefits. The center is fully staffed and has a study space with computers and a casual space for gathering. Other amenities include a TV, refrigerator, microwave, and free snacks and coffee during business hours. Hours may be limited during breaks and on holidays.
