Twenty-five years on, this work remains influential and challenging. A profound, if very dense distillation of information organization - there's a reason students call it "The Red Devil."

Faculty Bookplate 2025. On the occasion of Dr. Caleb Rucker's promotion to Professor.
The first chapters are so beautiful. They convey a rich theological imagination that inspires reflection, and the musical themes are especially meaningful and compelling to me. I began to share this book with my children during the time I was working toward promotion to full professor. Works of art like this, and sharing them with the people you love, are some of the great joys that give life meaning.

Experiments do more than generate results; they transform the way we imagine knowledge itself. They challenged me to think differently - to see truth not as what seems persuasive, but as what can be tested and demonstrated. This book shows that experiments are not just technical tools but a way of thinking: a discipline that sharpens questions, tests assumptions, and reshapes how experimenters approach the world.

An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us

This book, along with the first in the series, had a profound impact on how I view the stories we tell ourselves about human history and culture, and the power that these stories have in attributing meaning and purpose to our lives. Bringing up Quinn's ideas in discussion almost always leads to a passionate debate.
Faculty Bookplate 2025. On the occasion of Dr. David Christian Donovan's promotion to Professor.
This is the second book in a three-part series and part of the first science fiction series I ever read. It helped me to understand how fictional stories about our future can help us understand lessons from our history.
Faculty Bookplate 2025. On the occasion of Dr. Dawn Coleman's promotion to Professor.
This book was a revelation to me when I read it a year after its publication, in 2019. Against conventional wisdom, it argues that the church-state separation fundamental to secular republicanism intensified gender inequality by reinforcing a link between women and religion and sidelining both from political discourse. This idea grounded several of my subsequent articles and is important to my book in progress.
