On the occasion of Dr. R. Lee Leonard's promotion to Research Associate Professor
Dallas Smith was one of my professors at Tennessee Tech. Since retirement, he has become an endurance legend in Tennessee and an ambassador of the sport of running. I purchased his first book, Falling Forward, after catching-up with him at a 5k race in 2008. Reading his book and learning of his accomplishments inspired me challenge myself and try new things. You don't have to be a runner to enjoy his book, which recounts some of his adventures across Tennessee and beyond.

On the occasion of Dr. Rachel Patton McCord's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor
This book was a favorite "enjoyable read" of mine both during my graduate work and was sustaining to me when I read it again during the most tense days of the pandemic. I love all of Dorothy L. Sayers work, and this novel in particular resonates with me now as a faculty member because it evokes the life of female faculty nearly 100 years ago, and involves issues surrounding the balance of work and family, academic truth and personal relationships.
On the occasion of Dr. Ryan Windeknecht's promotion to Distinguished Lecturer
In the Spring of 2016, I tried game-based learning for the first time. The classroom activity I designed was a simple hack of the award-winning, tabletop role-playing game, Dungeon World. Although my activity has taken on a life of its own, I remain indebted to Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel for writing this love-letter to classic, tabletop role-playing games.
On the occasion of Dr. Sara Ritchey's promotion to Professor
For me, this book by an emerging scholar represents the most compelling, inspired, and rigorous research in the discipline of history today. I hope that my students and colleagues will build on its methods to center Native voices and collaborative practices in historical research. Although it covers histories from hundreds of years ago, it is future oriented in its vision of power and nationhood in the gulf south today. Always missing home, the book also brings joy in its beautiful, lucid descriptions of the waterways, landscapes, and communities of coastal Louisiana.

On the occasion of Dr. Spencer Olmstead's promotion to Professor
The study of sexuality in emerging adulthood is of vital importance. Sexuality is a complex and multi-faceted aspect of individual identity. This edited book examines sexuality during emerging adulthood in a thoughtful and theoretically informed manner, drawing upon cutting edge research from the top scholars in this field of science.
On the occasion of Dr. Theodora Bourni's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor.
This book contains a chapter on minimal surfaces that Giuseppe Tinaglia (a great friend and collaborator of mine!) and I have written based on lectures on the subject we both gave in our respective institutions.
