This text is an important reference for sustainable nuclear fuel cycles.

This excellent book was written by Gary Settles, a native of Tennessee and a Volunteer (BS in Aerospace Engineering, 1971). Prof. Settles is also my "academic grandfather" (the PhD advisor of my PhD advisor, Prof. Farrukh Alvi).

I've enjoyed listening to Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook in their podcast "The Rest Is History." I chose this book by Tom to further my newfound enjoyment of history.

This book was my father's last monograph before his death, and I'd like to honor his memory on the occasion of this milestone that he had helped me to reach. The academic life is not one that I would have entered without his support and encouragement.
