Josh Morgan supervises and manages the libraries' digitization operation as the Digital Production Manager. Josh manages a team of undergraduate student library assistants in the Digital Production Lab located on the 6th floor of Hodges Library in Digital Initiatives. He oversees the scanning, processing, and digital storage of materials from various partners, such as the Betsey B. Creekmore Special Collections and University Archives, UT Press, Collection Management & Sharing, and others.
His career in cultural heritage digitization began as a student worker at Clemson University libraries in 2008. After graduation in 2010, he served as lab manager and then as digital projects manager before joining University of Tennessee, Knoxville libraries in 2021 to run the digital projection lab.
Beyond working to provide access to manuscript collections and university archives, his professional experience includes consulting and supporting more than fifteen GLAM institutions across South Carolina in order to digitize and provide access to their cultural heritage material through the South Carolina Digital Library, as well as managing the digitization projects for over twenty National Park systems and two state park systems for the IMLS grant project, the Open Parks Network.
