Melanie Dixson

Melanie Dixson is an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) Libraries, where she leads the Health, Wellness & (Interim) Professional Programs Department. She helps develop inclusive, interdisciplinary services that support teaching, research, and engagement across health and professional disciplines.
From 2015 to 2023, Melanie served as a Health Sciences Librarian at UTK, where she partnered with faculty and students to support research, instruction, and scholarly communication in health-related disciplines. She provided specialized research assistance, developed instructional content and online guides, and facilitated the use of innovative tools, such as the Anatomage 3D Virtual Anatomy Table. She also supervised graduate assistants and promoted emerging models of scholarly communication across campus.
A Senior Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP), Melanie has been recognized for her outstanding contributions with the Paul E. Trentham, Sr. Dean’s Award for Excellence in Professional Performance from UTK Libraries and the Animal and Veterinary Information Services (AVIS) Research Award, presented by the Medical Library Association.
