Meredith Hale

Meredith Hale is the Metadata Librarian at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She manages the description of digitized primary source materials in XML and RDF and supports the broader discovery of these records through metadata sharing and transformation. She also leads metadata aggregation for the Digital Library of Tennessee (DLTN), a service hub of the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). She holds master’s degrees in information science and art history from the University of Chapel Hill at UNC and 19th century literature and culture from the University of Sussex. Meredith earned a BFA in illustration and English from Syracuse University. Her areas of interest include copyright, authority control, information retrieval, and user experience. She enjoys sharing her knowledge of both technology and 19th century history.
