Whitney Caruthers

Whitney Caruthers is the Manager of the Medbery Makerspace in Hodges Library at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She oversees daily operations, supports creative and technical projects for students, faculty, and staff, and leads certification courses to ensure safe equipment use.

Whitney earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee with a focus in photography. After graduation, she managed a portrait studio before returning to the University of Tennessee as the IT Specialist for the School of Art, where she developed the school’s smART Lab. Over the past several years, Whitney has continued to expand her skills in 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, and other maker technologies.
