Description
This position supports the Digital Library Program by digitizing material for the Libraries’ Digital Collections. Student will digitize a variety of material types, such as text publications, photographs, sheet music, theses, drawings, fragile primary source documents, booklets, slides, etc. Student will also edit images, transcribe texts, and occasionally create basic metadata. We are looking for students who are detail-oriented, have above-average computer skills, and an interest in learning new technologies. Desired hours and schedule are generally set by the student library assistant based on their availability. This is a summer position with the availability of continuing into the regular semester. Please only apply if you can work this summer for 12-25 hours per week (between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday).
Responsibilities & Duties
· Digitize various material types (text, photographs, slides, etc.)
· Edit images and files using Adobe or CaptureOne
· Data entry in Excel or Google Drive
Required Qualifications
· Detail-oriented
· Ability to troubleshoot
· Ability to work independently
· Must be able to work a minimum two-hour shift during regular departmental hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)
· Must be enrolled in classes for summer or fall semester to work during the summer
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Adobe Photoshop
· Experience with macOS and Windows
· Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive
