Queer Conversations: Join us October 11

September 29, 2022

Are you a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and would like to have a chance to talk with others in this community about their experiences? Are you an ally who is interested in learning more about this community? Or are you simply in the mood for good conversation and even better company on a quiet Autumn evening? If you answered yes to any of these questions, or are curious to find out more, consider attending Queer Conversations!

Queer Conversations is a partnership between UT Libraries, the School of Information Sciences, Appalachian OUTreach, and the Pride Center to create a welcoming environment to foster open, respectful communication between UT students, faculty, staff, community members, and our panelists whose identities span across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. For the first half of the event, panelists will discuss their experiences as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In the second half, the audience will break into small groups to speak with different panelists, allowing for more personalized communication. Please be aware that panelists may choose not to answer some questions. Rules of engagement will be provided before the event and will be discussed in the opening panel discussion to help the audience understand these boundaries.

Queer Conversations will occur in the Mary Greer Room (258 Hodges Library) and in the lobby behind Starbucks on Tuesday, October 11th, 6:30–8:30 p.m. If you wish to attend (in-person or virtually), make sure to register using this link: tiny.utk.edu/queerconvo. The panel will be livestreamed to registered virtual attendees. Please see the UT Events Calendar for more details.

We hope to have the chance to chat with you!
