NIH Public Access Policy Update
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has an updated 2024 Public Access Policy that will go into effect for manuscripts accepted for publication on or after July 1, 2025. Once accepted for publication, author-accepted manuscripts must be deposited into PubMed Central and made available to the public without embargo upon the official date of publication.
This update differs from the previous 2008 NIH Public Access Policy, which allowed for embargoes. For help navigating these changes, visit the following resources:
