Congratulations to Newly Tenured and Promoted Faculty
Each year, University of Tennessee Provost John Zomchick holds a reception honoring newly tenured and promoted faculty members. UT Libraries has established a tradition of commemorating those career milestones with a bookplate placed in a book of the faculty member’s choice.
Faculty members select a book of professional or personal interest — whether already in the Libraries’ collections or specially-ordered for the occasion. Titles selected by faculty honorees are on display during the annual Faculty Bookplate Reception. This year’s reception was held on November 18 at the John C. Hodges Library.
Faculty honorees were polled about the reasons for their book selections. Some select a seminal work in their field of study, a book that shaped their own scholarly journey, or a book authored by a beloved mentor. Some select a childhood favorite or a book that in some way honors a family member.
Visit the Faculty Bookplate Tradition website to view chosen titles and faculty members’ reasons for their selections.
Congratulations to newly tenured and promoted faculty members!
