A research ID, such as an ORCID iD or ResearcherID, can help you distinguish yourself from other authors with similar names and ensure your work is recognized, including: Name confusion: Your name might be common, and your work might be confused with other people's when listed in bibliographic databases. Publisher requirements: Publishers need to attribute authorship correctly. Grant funders: Many grant funders require applications to include ORCID identifiers. Research impact: You can use your identifier to track your research impact by times cited and the H-index. Potential collaborators: You can use your identifier to identify potential collaborators. Recognition: You can use your identifier to gain recognition for your peer-reviewing activities.
