Special Collections Instruction
Limited Instruction Available for Fall Semester 2026
Special Collections is relocating archival collections to our new off-site Library Storage Annex. Archival collections will be unavailable and the reading room will be closed to researchers from July 13 to early October. We will be unable to provide instruction during this time.
We hope to resume instruction utilizing rare books at the end of October and manuscripts in late November. Timelines may change as needed. Instructors hoping to schedule instruction for late October or November are encouraged to submit their requests by June 1.
We have many digital alternatives available. Please see our Digital Teaching Collections LibGuide for detailed information on using our digital collections as well as tutorials on how to search the digital collections and how to cite research items. In addition, UTK Libraries offer a wealth of databases that feature primary sources on every conceivable topic. Please do not hesitate to ask Library instructors to help you find those resources that provide the best fit.
Instructors and researchers may direct questions to special@utk.edu.
