Description
Located in the back area of North Commons, The Math Place is a great place for you to hang around and experience all things math. It’s a place to learn, do your homework and prepare for exams. Come and interact with others that are in your class where you will be supported by undergraduates that have been successful in their math classes as well as math graduate student instructors and faculty members that are there to help you.

Graduate Commons

Description
Graduate students need to swipe their VolCards to gain access.
The Graduate Commons is furnished with nine adjustable-height desks, ergonomic chairs, and lounge areas with sofas—features to ease a workday that can include extended periods of time working on dissertations or analyzing data. The new space supports scholarly work by providing workstations with powerful processors and dual monitors, specialized software, small-group rooms, and a large presentation room that can host a dissertation defense. Additionally, there is a group study room with seating for approximately 4 to 6 and a whiteboard. There are even small amenities such as a phone charging station and a bank of lockers.
Graduate Study Carrels
Description
Carrels are located around the perimeters of floors three through six. Up to two people may be assigned to a carrel at any time. Carrels are not lockable, so no personal items may be left unattended.
Study Tables – DeVine

The study tables are a space in the Devine Library where patrons can study, work, read, and collaborate. Outlets are built in to each table for easy access to charge devices.

Active Learning Space

Description
Outfitted with standing height desks, pedal resistance laptop workstations, and zynergy balance chairs, the space provides students with an alternative to sitting for long periods of time while studying or completing assignments. This space is located in the Commons South.
Miles Reading Room Study Rooms
Description
The Miles Reading Room features three enclosed study rooms. These rooms are more private than the study rooms in the Commons, but still have windows.
Commons Study Rooms
Description
The Commons on the second floor has several study rooms for general use. This is a conversational volume floor, and most study rooms do not have ceilings. Locations include Commons North 220 B-D and Commons South 235 K-U. A few specialty rooms have unique features (see below).
Specialty Rooms
- 220B is identical to the study rooms in the South Commons, but has a closeable door and a ceiling.
- 220C has a large smart screen for group presentations, including built in webcam, microphone, and speakers for teleconferencing.
- 220D has a conference room style layout, including a whiteboard and a monitor for group presentations.
- 235J: The Rotary Room: is a larger study space, with multiple whiteboards and a conference-style table.
Reservations
- Reservations are available online only, and can be made up to two weeks in advance.
- Click the hour blocks that you would like to reserve (maximum of two hours per day).
- Please note: It may take up to 1 Hour for new reservations to appear on the screen beside each room.
Group Study Space

Description
The Pendergrass Group Study Space is an open area for group and individual study. Within this space is a variety of seats options, including lounge chairs and individual tables. This space also hosts the leisure reading collection and course reserves.
Also located here is the Pendergrass Public Service Desk, where patrons can: borrow and return loaner equipment, books, and other library materials; pick up posters and 3D prints; pay library fines and fees; and ask questions and get help.
