On the occasion of Dr. Drew Paul's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor
Years ago, Elias Khoury's novel Gate of the Sun taught me how masterful storytelling can illuminate new and important perspectives on historical events. Children of the Ghetto: My Name is Adam is his latest novel to be translated, and it continues in that tradition. I hope that adding this to the UT library's collections will help spark interest in stories that have largely remained unknown and untold.
On the occasion of Dr. Monica Papes's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor
The lead author is my MS and PhD advisor, Dr. Town Peterson. His mentorship has been crucial to my career. This book built the theoretical foundation for the field of ecological niche modeling, that is central to my research.
On the occasion of Dr. Renata Oakes's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor
I am very passionate about Forages and Grazinglands, and this book is very special because it is the very first book I was invited as a chapter first author.
Forages, Volume 2: The Science of Grassland Agriculture, 7th edition
On the occasion of Dr. Andrew Muhammad's tenure as Professor
As an economist focused on agricultural trade and policy, this is the book that made me fully realize the importance of my research and outreach. Aside from being a good read for all, this is a fascinating exploration of the history, economics and politics of world trade. The focus on a major agricultural product was a plus.
The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy: An Economist Examines the Markets, Power, and Politics of World Trade

On the occasion of Dr. Anne-Hélène Miller's tenure and promotion to Associate Professor
There is not a subject in Montaigne's Essais that does not speak to us today, such as education, faith, vanity, greed, public leadership and humility, colonization, and the human condition in general. He was a man engaged in his community, a city politician and a man of the country. He wrote in a simple language, yet so rich, with subtlety and intelligence. He taught me the relevance of literature and languages to our lives.
On the occasion of Dr. Merilee McCurdy's tenure and promotion to Professor
As an undergraduate in Educational Psychology and as a graduate student in School Psychology, I learned about behaviorism and behavioral theory. This theoretical orientation continues to guide my research and applied practice. While I have broadened my orientation over time, my work is grounded in a behavioral framework and influences all that I do.
On the occasion of Dr. Brendan McConville's promotion to Professor
Charles was my composition teacher, a Pulitzer-prize winning composer, and a dear mentor who passed away recently. It has inspired both my music and my research.
