Maya's Notebook by Isabel Allende is one of my sister's favorite books. I selected this book to honor my sister, Laura, and her support throughout the years.

I have found many of Asimov's books to be very interesting and ahead of their time. Particularly how he thought not only of how technology could progress but also how humanity would respond and adapt. The "Foundation" book series had a big influence on how I view science and technology as not only tools for understanding the universe but also as yet another way that human society manifests itself through its own creations.

Years ago, Elias Khoury's novel Gate of the Sun taught me how masterful storytelling can illuminate new and important perspectives on historical events. Children of the Ghetto: My Name is Adam is his latest novel to be translated, and it continues in that tradition. I hope that adding this to the UT library's collections will help spark interest in stories that have largely remained unknown and untold.

This was the first book that I got inspired to practice efficiently.

Frank Rhodes, a former President of Cornell University, wrote his views on American research universities and their future in his book "The Creation of the Future: The Role of the American University" in 2001. I agree with his thoughts; however, not too many public universities share or practice his viewpoints in recent years.

This is a book I contributed to during my first few years here at UT. It represents research developments from the area of hardware security, specifically in the context of nanoelectronic computer systems. This has been and continues to be a major area of my own research and well represents work accomplished on my road to tenure and promotion.

I chose "Centuries of Childhood" because it was the first book that made me feel like a true scholar in the field of Child & Family Studies. Interpreting and understanding the evolution of adult-child-community relationships across history laid the foundation for my continued curiosity and monitoring of relationship and community trends. Recognizing such evolution in its macro-and micro- forms adds to my ability to create innovative and impactful change in communities at the interpersonal and family-levels.

This book was the culmination of nearly ten years of work and served as the centerpiece of my tenure case. I am very proud of it.

It is a book that represents unconditional love for all mankind and life forms.

The innovative ideas shared in this book have shaped my thinking as a researcher and the classes I teach.

As an African American studies major at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), I was introduced to psychology by Dr. Kobi Kambon, my Black Psychology instructor and past president of the Association of Black Psychologists. This seminal work by Dr. Robert V. Guthrie, a graduate of FAMU, honors the fortitude of early African American psychologists and promotes both critical thinking and self-reflection. This work prompted me to change my major to psychology and define my clinical research program.
