Description

The Cataloging department at UT Libraries is seeking one student library assistant to perform searches in library catalogs and to process library material in the Cormac McCarthy Collection. This position will be active for a limited duration from May 2026-February 2027.

Hours Needed: 10-15 hours per week; Monday-Friday (between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm)

Responsibilities & Duties

Duties to include: 

  • Processing books and other material: labeling, applying security strips, etc.
  • Search for catalog records in UT Libraries and WorldCat catalog databases for the titles in this collection to support the project’s cataloger
  • Assist in other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to type with accuracy
  • Attention to details
  • Knowledge of library classification system and/or willingness to learn
  • Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Excel)
  • Physically able to push book carts and lift books
  • Comfortable working with technology
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Non-English language skills a plus
