Thank you for allowing me to choose a book to commemorate my recent promotion. I spent several months of the year 2020 learning about racism and anti-racism through books and podcasts. The Ibram Kendi book 'How to be an Antiracist' was especially helpful to me as I furthered my learning about this topic.

Over the years I have really wondered how to better engage students inside the classroom. I really wanted to make them excited for the subject of Business and Professional Communication. So, I started reading books about how to better "spark their learning". This book really resonated with me as a way to really engage students, help them become emotionally invested in the material, help motivate them to learn, and help them retain the information for years to come.
